Relief-focused massage for tight muscles, hard-working bodies, and better movement.

Chris Cox built Muscle Movement & Improvement for people who want more than a relaxing hour on the table. Sessions are focused, pressure-aware, and built around the areas that limit your comfort, recovery, and movement.

The story

A wreck, a roof fall, and the reason Chris still does this work.

In Chris's words

"I wanted to help my grandpa as well as wanting my own pain to end."

The work started with pain that wouldn't quit, then became a way to help family, clients, athletes, and hard-working people feel like their body belongs to them again.

It may sound funny, but surviving a major car accident and having my grandpa fall off a roof brought me to where I am today. In 2002, I flipped my truck end-over-end and, much to the surprise of the first responders on the scene, I walked away with nothing more than a deep ache in my shoulder. I was thankful to be alive and healthy but no amount of acupuncture or chiropractors seemed to help with my deep shoulder pain. Eventually, I had deep tissue massage performed directly on the same area and it worked wonders. Right then I made the decision to enroll in massage classes.

Later that year, my grandpa had a stroke while working on his roof. As he fell, he hit his head and shoulder on a gas meter. The injury to his shoulder was muscle-related and surgery couldn't solve it. I wanted to help my grandpa, and I wanted my own pain to end too. After attending massage school and learning the trade, I researched several techniques that could help my grandpa recover from his stroke and also ease our muscle pain.

Although my grandpa passed away early the next year, being able to help him return almost completely to full health during the time he had left on this planet is one of the things I'm most proud of. That experience made me realize I wanted to spend my life helping others feel better. 16 years later, I still love helping others through massage therapy.

Each time a client tells me I've helped them walk or use their body in a way they thought they never could again, I'm reminded of why I love the work that I do. I'm passionate about helping you feel better, one massage at a time.
